Wonderful Christmas
December 9, 2002
Three men following after a star,
searching around as they travel so far.
A babe is born in a bed full of hay,
such humble surroundings on a wonderful day.
Family close by all sharing their love,
filled with peace just as a dove.
Gifts are given with smiles in their hearts,
wrapping paper ripped completely covered in art.
Waiting underneath for someone to kiss,
wanting to feel that emotion of bliss.
Lights strung around all on the tree,
bright, colorful sight for everyone to see.
A big red man comes during the night,
bearing gifts for all people both good and right.
Standing in line along with the rush,
thinking this season isn't worth all the fuss.
Kids looking at their gifts with resent,
parents wondering how the time became spent.
Something has come over us causing this curse,
We have lost the first stanza of this poetic verse.
There is not really that much I can say about this one. I think it turned out good. A good message around Christmas time so we can keep our focus on what is really important. It was inspired by Marty Mcgoey. In the guestbook he gave the idea of wrting about Christmas, so two days after he signed it, I wrote this poem.
