Overview
Suspendperson is a hangman-like game with multiple puzzles going on at once instead of only one. Some puzzles have an owner, and other puzzles are randomly generated. When a non-random puzzle is solved, the person who solved it creates their own puzzle. Players of the game do not guess letters like in hangman. Instead, every 4 hours a letter is picked automatically. This letter will be revealed in all of the active puzzles. As always, you must be logged in to play, but you will still be able to see the puzzles if you aren't logged in.
Scoring
No points from a puzzle, including purchased letters and missed guesses are applied until after the puzzle is complete. At that time the puzzle owner will get points based upon how many letters have appeared so far. Common letters are worth more points than uncommon ones. As letters are revealed, the points they will add to the owner's score are displayed under them. These points are given to the owner even if that letter isn't in the owner's puzzle. The person who gets the puzzle correct will receive 5 bonus points. For each incorrect guess, the owner gains 1 point, and the guesser loses 1 point. Random puzzles are worth 20 points minus the number of letters that have been revealed so far, with a minumum of 8 points. You do not get to create a new puzzle after solving random puzzles.
Puzzle Difficulty:
Each puzzle also has a difficulty rating assigned to it based on the complexity of the words it contains. Bonus points are given to the player who solves the puzzle based on this rating. Those bonuses are:
Negative Scores:
Each time a letter is revealed, players who have less than -5 points will gain 2 points (or 1 point if their score is exactly -6). This point bonus prevents players from getting too far behind in the beginning of a round. This mainly happens when a puzzle with many letters purchased on it in a previous round isn't solved until the beginning of a new round.
Influencing Letters
Even though it is a random number generator which picks the letters that will be revealed, each person has some control over which letter will be picked. For each letter that is revealed, each player can change the chance of which letter will be picked.
The complete details are on the Influence Letters page.
Purchasing Letters
Letters can be purchased for specific puzzles anytime you wish. A purchased letter is only revealed for the puzzle you purchased it for, and is only revealed to you. The cost of the letter is subtracted from your score when the puzzle is completed. The owner of the puzzle receives 1 point per letter purchased on their puzzle.
You may not spend more than 10 points within any 12-hour period. This limit is applied per-puzzle, so buying letters on one puzzle will not limit the number of letters you can buy on another puzzle.
Making Guesses
When you think you know the answer to a puzzle, make a guess on it! However, be careful, since an incorrect answer will cost you one point, and will give one point to the puzzle owner. The use of websites such as morewords.com to assist in guessing is against the rules.
Sudden Death
Sudden death is a mode in SuspendPerson that can randomly happen after any normal round. When a sudden death round starts, one sudden death puzzle from each users stored puzzle list is activated. The last puzzle that remains unsolved is the winner. Letters are revealed as normal, but can no longer be purchased. Also, everyone's guesses are revealed even when the puzzle isn't solved yet. Guesses do not cost any points, but a limited number of guesses per puzzle can be made. Each person will get points based on how long their puzzle lasts, with the winner recieving 100 points.

Some rounds in SuspendPerson have a subtype. These subtypes will alter the game for that round in some way. The possible subtypes are:

Round Subtypes
Some rounds in SuspendPerson have a subtype. These subtypes will alter the game for that round in some way. The possible subtypes are:
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| AEIOU | The default spawn chance value for vowels is increased to 25. Also, when vowels are influenced, their chance growth rate is increased. |
| Blackout | Only the oldest active puzzle is visible. All other puzzles are hidden until they become the oldest. Hidden puzzles will still have letters spawned on them as normal. |
| Double or Nothing | Whenever a letter is purchased, there is a 49 percent chance that the letter will cost 0 points and a 51 percent chance that it will cost double points. The more letters you purchase on a puzzle, the worse your chances are at getting a letter for 0 points. If you don't have enough purchase points remaining on a puzzle to be charged double, then the letter will cost the normal amount. |
| Early Bird | When a letter is purchased on a puzzle, no other player can purchase that letter for that puzzle. Also, the cost of several of the letters is reduced. |
| Flashback | When a puzzle is first activated, the six most recently spawned letters will automatically be revealed. The puzzle owner will receive points as normal for these letters. |
| Friendship | All purchased letters are revealed for all players. Also, every guess is revealed to all players. |
| Insight | The most common letters in the active puzzles have a much higher chance to spawn than other letters. Letters that are not in any active puzzle have an extremely small chance to spawn. |
| Last Word | Players may not make two guesses in a row. If a player makes an incorrect guess and wants to try again, they must wait until someone else makes an incorrect guess. |
| Reckless | Only the player who solves the puzzle is charged for letters that they purchase. |
| Speed | Letters spawn at twice the normal rate. |
There are some subtypes that have been disabled for various reasons. Here is a list of them for reference purposes.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| AEIOU | All vowels are revealed by default on all active puzzles. |
| BIG Money | Letter spawns are worth 1 additional point for puzzle owners. Also, all spawned letters give points, not just unique letters. |
| Decay | Each time a letter spawns, the player in first place will lose 1, 2, or 3 points. (60% chance to lose 1, 30% chance to lose 2, 10% chance to lose 3) |
| Letter Lock | Players may not purchase letters on puzzles. |
